This article highlights that epilepsy is not only a neurological condition but also a deeply psychological and social experience. While consistent medication adherence is essential for seizure management, emotional responses such as denial, fear, anxiety, depression, and stigma often create barriers to treatment. The article explores how these challenges affect daily functioning, confidence, and help-seeking behaviour, particularly among young adults and athletes who may fear judgment or discrimination. Through a clinical example and research insights, it emphasises the need for a holistic care approach in which psychological support, psychoeducation, and understanding are central to improving both adherence and overall well-being.
